to kathleen and others, i'll just add to what harrison says
here.  we're not really talking about surfing the web,
wandering aimlessly in cybergoo... we're talking about going
to a place where all these familiar names and ideas are
already showing up.  i've built 6 websites and i don't surf
the web.  BUT i do check in regularly to a very few places
where i am known.  for me, it's the difference between
cruising singles bars alone and going to a bar because a
friend has rented the back room and all of your friends will
be there.  there's a bar in both scenes, but the second one
