Dear colleagues,

the second day of the OS training in Moscow started with morning news,
followed by reading the proceedings and standard convergence.
Selforganizing power evolved: morning news has already become an event
completely in the hands of the participants. The Delphi-method cristallized
5 issues, four of them were worked. Reports were given and the open space
was closed with the talking stick ceremony. That lasted about 1 hour. A
number of the participants reported, that they felt a surge of energy as
they touched the talking stick: a piece of wood that Michael's daughther
had brought from lake Baikal. One of the participants from the lake Baikal
region expressed her hope, that open space would contribute to strengthen
the forces engaged in saving the lake. This lake contains 20 percent of all
the freshwater on our planet. It is central to all of life.
Another participant felt like a discoverer searching for new world, but
arriving at an unexpected shore (be ready to be surprised!).

The transision from the thematic open space to the open space on open space
was quite organic. Michael took the role of the sponsor and Jo introduced
the technology in Russian. He physically had to get out of the way as
participants rushed into the centre to offer their issues. We had to create
new rooms to accomodate all 18 passions. Twelve reports were produced
between 3:00 and 6:30 pm. The reports reflected the intensive discussion on
open space technology. Groups got very involved in their work and several
interrupted to make it to evening news.
We sensed a mood of people encountering a deeper level of open space.
In consequence evening news was very relaxed.

During the day we organized learning spaces with books, videos and audio CD's.

After the close of the working day we prepared for the 3rd part of the
training: the open space on the role of the facilitator.

More on that tomorrow. Writing the report and sharing it with you we
reasures us of being a part of the world-wide open space community. It is
comforting to know that you're out there.

Greetings from Moscow
Jo and Michael
