Request for Advice - Contributing to an OS when you can't be there

My experience is that people put their time and energy into their priorities. These change over time and it is often hard to acknowledge that what was once important, isn't as important now. For example, if I am struggling financially, I probably don't have a lot of free time and energy to devote to other things. I may care but I don't care enough to sacrifice my billable hours.

All this is to say I'd be cautious about relying on the input of those not there. If those present don't have the energy to make something happen, it probably won't.

SO - here is the question!! How do you provide the opportunity for input and participation from those who can't actually attend the OS day(s)? Many of the membership are self-employed consultants, who book their time well in advance, or may be struggling financially and can't afford to give up billable time. Other members or ex- members may care about the issues, but not enough to give up their time!!
