<div dir="ltr">I will just add a little story. The location was a 'hill station' in India...in other words quite high in the mountains but these mountains are dwarfed by the Himalaya's in the distance. About 80 people. The biggest challenge was the outdoor wall space we used for posting reports. The reports were written up on flip chart paper. Reports were essential for this corporate retreat as budget allocation and some other strategic choices were to be made from the outputs.<div><br></div><div>We had a lot of monkeys in the environment. I don't know what kind but they were about 3 feet tall, so not so tiny. A few hung around very close by. When Ward was posting a report, taping it down well, the monkeys watched him intently. As soon as he turned and looked at the monkeys, they quickly looked away, grooming themselves and appearing the best version of 'divine non-chalance' I have witnessed. When Ward turned back to the wall, the heads of all of the monkeys quickly swiveled to watch what he was doing again. This pattern continued on for a time. The event took place for an afternoon followed by two days.</div><div><br></div><div>Once the last report was posted, we all took a break and no one was at the wall. In seconds, monkeys descended and took all of the reports from the walls.They ran in every direction. Participants started chasing them to retrieve the reports and the game was on in earnest. This was the time we discovered that monkey's could swim.....the lake was right beside us. With reports clenched firmly in their teeth, they swam, thus gaining distance on their pursuers. When it was done, after way too much excitement, all but one report had been retrieved. The missing report was the one on <u>staff retention</u>.</div><div><br></div><div>I can imagine this meeting having been in a more uptight business environment, in a country where there was less tolerance for the unexpected. Thankfully it was in India and in true and beautiful fashion, the loss of the report was forgiven. One of the primary dieties in India, Hanuman, sometimes called the monkey god, was apparently at work, or so it was concluded in the closing circle. Apparently Hanuman needed the report...maybe having staff retention problems of his own and wanting to tap into the wisdom generated in this circle.</div><div><br></div><div>Blessings,</div><div>Birgitt</div><div><br><div class="gmail_quote"><div dir="ltr">On Sat, May 6, 2017 at 4:47 PM anne stadler via OSList <<a href="mailto:oslist@lists.openspacetech.org">oslist@lists.openspacetech.org</a>> wrote:<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1px #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex"><div dir="auto"><div><span></span></div><div><div>One thing i notice about the info I posted below, it's not "remote location".  It's in places where you can use tables chairs etc.  And it's ALL based on the experiences of doing OS outdoors here in US and in India.</div><div><br></div><div>AND you could do this in remote place.  Just bring writing materials and a roll of blue tape, and clothes line & pins for hanging offerings on-- or lay them out on ground where people can walk/stand around & read them. The elements & principles are the SAME!! Law of two feet and Four principles, circle, marketplace!!! </div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>Same basic elements:</div><div>Circle (preferably in shade!!)</div><div id="m_6407619726241455561AppleMailSignature"><br></div><div id="m_6407619726241455561AppleMailSignature">Agenda Wall (either constructed; or outside building wall; or fence)</div><div id="m_6407619726241455561AppleMailSignature"><br></div><div id="m_6407619726241455561AppleMailSignature">Colored Mr Sketchy pens and </div><div id="m_6407619726241455561AppleMailSignature">8 1/2" paper for posting offerings</div><div id="m_6407619726241455561AppleMailSignature"><br></div><div id="m_6407619726241455561AppleMailSignature">Numbered Post-it notes to put on offerings.  I usually color code: Different color for each breakout start time. </div><div id="m_6407619726241455561AppleMailSignature"><br></div><div id="m_6407619726241455561AppleMailSignature">Numbered signs for breakout spaces that people can carry and mount so others can see.</div><div id="m_6407619726241455561AppleMailSignature"><br></div><div id="m_6407619726241455561AppleMailSignature">It could help to have wireless hand held mike. I've mostly done without.  But I have loud voice.</div><div id="m_6407619726241455561AppleMailSignature"><br></div><div id="m_6407619726241455561AppleMailSignature">Important to have spaces clearly delineated: table for art supplies, paper, pens, tape</div><div id="m_6407619726241455561AppleMailSignature"><br></div><div id="m_6407619726241455561AppleMailSignature">Numbered Signs mounted on sticks for people to carry, or already in the ground, for breakout spaces.</div><div id="m_6407619726241455561AppleMailSignature"><br></div><div id="m_6407619726241455561AppleMailSig
