would like to thank Michael Herman for organizing this event (called “improperly”
VOSonOS) and to be so kind to inform me/invite me to my main address at Gmail
(as he assumed, correctly, that I had not seen the previous announcement on the
OSLIST). <o:p id="yui_3_16_0_1_1437552045091_419005" class=""></o:p></span></div><div class="" style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;" id="yui_3_16_0_1_1437552045091_419007"><span style="font-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif";mso-bidi-font-family:Verdana" id="yui_3_16_0_1_1437552045091_419009" class=""><o:p id="yui_3_16_0_1_1437552045091_419011" class=""> </o:p></span></div><div class="" style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;" id="yui_3_16_0_1_1437552045091_419013"><span style="font-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif";mso-bidi-font-family:Verdana" id="yui_3_16_0_1_1437552045091_419015" class="">Having
participated in the event, I was very positively impressed. As the majority of
the people in this list have not been present they could not feel the same that
many of us felt. And probably they will not feel attracted to read the proceedings
(that anyhow does not convey the “climate”). So I have decided to give here my opinion
of the event. As a base for that I have used my words at the closing, with some
modifications.<o:p id="yui_3_16_0_1_1437552045091_419017" class=""></o:p></span></div><div class="" style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;" id="yui_3_16_0_1_1437552045091_419019"><span style="font-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif";mso-bidi-font-family:Verdana" id="yui_3_16_0_1_1437552045091_419021" class=""><o:p id="yui_3_16_0_1_1437552045091_419023" class=""> </o:p></span></div><div class="" style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;" id="yui_3_16_0_1_1437552045091_419025"><span style="font-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif";mso-bidi-font-family:Verdana" id="yui_3_16_0_1_1437552045091_419027" class="">This post
is preliminary to other things that I will propose for discussion in the
following days, as I have already proposed during the event, namely the role of
OSI’s and if “courses” are a good way to someone learn OST – or not. This is
more urgent after a mail from Harold that I will comment later.<o:p id="yui_3_16_0_1_1437552045091_419029" class=""></o:p></span></div><div class="" style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;" id="yui_3_16_0_1_1437552045091_419031"><span style="font-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif";mso-bidi-font-family:Verdana" id="yui_3_16_0_1_1437552045091_419033" class=""><o:p id="yui_3_16_0_1_1437552045091_419035" class=""> </o:p></span></div><div class="" style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;" id="yui_3_16_0_1_1437552045091_419037"><span style="font-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif";mso-bidi-font-family:Verdana" id="yui_3_16_0_1_1437552045091_419039" class="">1) I was
very impressed by the energy that this “computer mediated” Open Space on Open
Space created within the people that joined - real people, having real
conversations (and not “virtual” ones…), and generally with almost the same
quality and intimacy as in a good face to face OST event. This was pioneering work
of quality. Thanks to Michael, Lucas and all that made this event possible. I
hope the next event of this kind will not be called “virtual” – “<b id="yui_3_16_0_1_1437552045091_419041" class="">online</b>” (OOSonOS) is a good compromise!<o:p id="yui_3_16_0_1_1437552045091_419043" class=""></o:p></span></div><div class="" style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;" id="yui_3_16_0_1_1437552045091_419045"><span style="font-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif";mso-bidi-font-family:Verdana" id="yui_3_16_0_1_1437552045091_419047" class=""><o:p id="yui_3_16_0_1_1437552045091_419049" class=""> </o:p></span></div><div class="" style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;" id="yui_3_16_0_1_1437552045091_419051"><span style="font-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif";mso-bidi-font-family:Verdana" id="yui_3_16_0_1_1437552045091_419053" class="">2) Being
one of the (small number of) people that had problems with the platform (which
I think that can be fixed soon), I was very impressed not only by the quick and
friendly help that Lucas always gave me, but specially by the possibilities of
qiqochat.<o:p id="yui_3_16_0_1_1437552045091_419055" class=""></o:p></span></div><div class="" style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;" id="yui_3_16_0_1_1437552045091_419057"><span style="font-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif";mso-bidi-font-family:Verdana" id="yui_3_16_0_1_1437552045091_419059" class=""><o:p id="yui_3_16_0_1_1437552045091_419061" class=""> </o:p></span></div><div class="" style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;" id="yui_3_16_0_1_1437552045091_419063"><span style="font-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif";mso-bidi-font-family:Verdana" id="yui_3_16_0_1_1437552045091_419065" class="">3) I
think the future of <b id="yui_3_16_0_1_1437552045091_419067" class="">collaborative long
distance communication for groups</b> must <b id="yui_3_16_0_1_1437552045091_419069" class="">always</b>
have the possibilities that qiqochat has (and not only some of them), namely: <b id="yui_3_16_0_1_1437552045091_419071" class="">video</b> (seeing the others - which is
VERY important for the intimacy during the event and for non-native English
speakers too); <b id="yui_3_16_0_1_1437552045091_419073" class="">micro</b> (speaking and hearing
the others when one is also seeing them); <b id="yui_3_16_0_1_1437552045091_419075" class="">writing</b>
(for notes and parallel communication). No one of the tools I have used before (and
I have tried many different tools during these years) was even close to have
all of that!<o:p id="yui_3_16_0_1_1437552045091_419077" class=""></o:p></span></div><div class="" style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;" id="yui_3_16_0_1_1437552045091_419079"><span style="font-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif";mso-bidi-font-family:Verdana" id="yui_3_16_0_1_1437552045091_419081" class=""><o:p id="yui_3_16_0_1_1437552045091_419083" class=""> </o:p></span></div><div class="" style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;" id="yui_3_16_0_1_1437552045091_419085"><span style="font-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif";mso-bidi-font-family:Verdana" id="yui_3_16_0_1_1437552045091_419087" class="">4) As it
has been done in some – but not all – WOSonOS, I hope that the next one, in
Poland, will create the best conditions to enable long distance participation
(streaming of many sessions, space for breakout sessions with long distance
participants, or even conveners). I think that qiqochat can be a good solution
