<div dir="ltr">Hi Jeff,<div><br></div><div>not specific to diversity conversations, but in Austria we had good success offering Dynamic Facilitation as an optional resource for Open Space sessions. We've done this at least twice now, at conferences hosted using Art of Hosting, with the theme of the conference being DF itself (the first one) and public participation in Europe (the second one).</div>
<div><br></div><div> In both cases, there were plenty of DF practitioners there, so it was a fairly easy thing to do. We did find that it made sense to offer longer sessions for those who wanted to use DF to delve more deeply into a subject (2 hr sessions instead of 1 hr ones.) And sort of by implication, people tended to stay, though they certainly could have used the law of mobility to leave. </div>
<div><br></div><div>Reason I'm bringing it up, is that DF is particularly helpful for engaging in difficult conversations, so could be a useful adjunct to OS in this way.</div><div><br></div><div>with all best wishes,</div>

I'm curious about other experiences of hosting conversations about<br>

I co-facilitated a daylong OS for the faculty at a graduate school,<br>
sponsored by the Faculty Diversity Committee, and it was a very useful<br>
day of conversations and reflections.<br>

I have also seen trained diversity facilitators convene sessions in OS<br>
where important and powerful conversations are beautifully held, in<br>
part because of their training in doing so.<br>
<br>
There is a question whether OS is the right container when, for<br>
example, people can use the law of mobility to avoid conversations<br>
which might trouble their worldview. Or when, for example, the only<br>
people who convene conversations about sexism in the workplace are<br>
women. (Extend the example to racism, homophobia, etc.)<br>
<br>
What's your experience? Any ideas about theme or invitation or<br>
resources (like the posters) to help enhance the learning and<br>
transformation that's possible?<br>
