program and how it is being run, not with their particular area of interest in
Environmental Studies.  A large program, with traditional styles of one
way classes and no connection to alumni had reduced their energy and excitement
for the content.  They did see possibilities, particularly in the OST
discussion, for a different approach and came up with specific proposals to
change classes and connections/relationships.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

Your report is really interesting. Congratulations on that positive feedback!
May I confirm that you were conducting OS with <i>graduate students</i> (ie:
people pursuing MA or PhD degrees)? What type of program / discipline? I ask
b/c in my experience, graduate students have been anything but indifferent.
Cynical perhaps, self-absorbed, concerned about success, financial issues and
mastery of the specialised vocabulary / theory/ knowledge base of their discipline,
often seeking respect or feeling stymied by their research / programs of study;
but not indifferent, and never concerned about disagreeing with others; except
perhaps their supervisory committee members. <br>
<br>
So I'm really curious as to what was causing these grad students to feel
indifferent?<br>
