day open space about democracy for young people from Letvia visiting <st1:country-region
w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Denmark</st1:place></st1:country-region>. They
were about 25 danish and letvian between 12 and 16. At the end of the second
day they hosted an open space for the visiting parents - They were amazing!<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><font size=2 color=navy face=Arial><span style='font-size:
10.0pt;font-family:Arial;color:navy'>When 2 of them had introduced the
principles and the law of two feet and invited the parents to join and post
sessions – nothing happened!<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><font size=2 color=navy face=Arial><span style='font-size:
10.0pt;font-family:Arial;color:navy'>I admit I myself got a little scared and I
whispered to one of the hosts – a 14 year old boy – that he did
well and the parents very should be more active – and the boy answered
me: “No problem, I guess they feel the same way as we did yesterday when
you introduced us to open space”<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

12.0pt'>Does any one have any info about using open space with young people
ages 9 - 16? Are there any significant opportunities and factors to consider in
design? <br>

We are working on convening open spaces in communities around the <st1:country-region
w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">US</st1:place></st1:country-region> for youth to
explore their views, issues, ideal futures, and action dreams around the theme
of media in their communities and in the whole world. <br>
<br>
We are very excited, as our initial inquiries with small groups of young people
say they are very aware of the perversity in the <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place
w:st="on">US</st1:place></st1:country-region> media all around them and
specifically targeting them. They have many ideas, and need the chance to
re-imagine media. <br>
<br>
We really look forward to their new ideas for youth generated media systems and
formats, and the change that will happen in our media system as a result. <br>
