remerciements qui m’ont été offerts par la communauté francophone du Forum
ouvert lors du <i>Forum ouvert sur le Forum ouvert</i> (FoFo - II). Je vous en
direz plus sur cet événement sous peu mais avant, je veux prendre le temps de
dire merci.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

travail en Forum ouvert pour plusieurs années encore. Ce travail et cette
passion ont débuté il y a 13 ans lorsque j’ai participé à une formation sur l’Open
Space que Harrison Owen animait au Canada.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

témoignage et merci à Suzanne Daigle pour son message chaleureux qu’elle a
affiché sur ce réseau. Son excuse très appréciable pour ne pas être présente au
FoFo, c’est qu’elle animait son 1<sup>er</sup> Forum ouvert qui, soit dit en
passant, a été un réel succès. Félicitations!<o:p></o:p></span></p>

la semaine dernière a encore une fois été un succès. Grâce à la venue de
cousins de la France la rencontre avait une saveur internationale tel que voulu
dès le premier FoFo en 2007. La diversité culturelle s’est aussi accrue. Les
apprentissages étaient riches, stimulants et bon pour l’âme. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

Opening Space. In life, there are special teachers who become friends and soul
mates. For me, Diane is that person. Thank you for honoring this gentle lady
who never seeks the limelight and who teaches Open Space with her heart and an
attention to detail that has no match. Open Space is all about helping the
world become a better place with a simplicity that comes from the intent that
is inside us. I learned this from Diane and it is a life lesson that will serve
me until I skip on to another place. I add my voice and hugs to all who

Hi all,<br>
<br>
Back at the office after a fabulous French Open Space on Open Space! Thanks<br>
to the efforts and hard work of a very creative organizing committee, about<br>
30 people gathered for this event on a beautiful site by a lake nested in<br>
the hills of the Outaouais region. We were warmly greeted by Johanne Mantha<br>
and Hélène Lamoureux, with ribbons and flowers to create our nametags. Then,<br>
time almost stopped for three days: nature was calming, conversations were<br>
inspiring and relationships grew. And we honoured Diane Gibeault's<br>
pioneering of Open Space in the Francophonie in a particularly fitting way!<br>
<br>
There were newcomers to Open Space, old-timers and people like me who have<br>
been opening space for a few years now. We learned a lot, laughed a lot and<br>
cried too! We experienced the Circle in various settings: storytelling, Open<br>
Space, and drumming.<br>
<br>
The first night was facilitated by Marquis Bureau. It was a circle of<br>
storytelling, and it led us to reflect on openness and closeness. On letting<br>
go. On spirit. The next day, two other wonderful members of the organizing<br>
committee opened space. It was a first time for Stéphanie Rivier, and a<br>
second time for Céline Côté. They opened and held space beautifully, with<br>
very inviting energy. Numerous topics were posted, such as: predispositions<br>
to OS, explaining OS in a few words and simple manner, marketing OS,<br>
convincing leaders of the power of human creative force, opening space in<br>
poor neighbourhoods, opening space with people who cannot read or write,<br>
values at the heart of OS, the next steps of OS in the Francophonie. And<br>
several more.<br>
<br>
After a full day of great discussions, we had a drumming workshop just<br>
before dinner. Sitting in a circle, we learned to use drums and other<br>
percussion instruments. After a bit of practice, "Life is change"
said Leo<br>
Brooks, our facilitator. So he asked us to switch instruments and try to<br>
learn and play with those, to go with the flow of change! So instruments<br>
were passed from one to the other as we kept the rhythm. We all gradually<br>
got more comfortable, letting go of our shyness or awkward feeling,<br>
laughing, connecting more and more with the rhythm of the whole group. And<br>
the final harmony was amazing!<br>
<br>
After dinner, at sundown, we celebrated the summer solstice with a drum<br>
circle around a bonfire by the lake. David Sherwood and Lucie Audet, two<br>
seasoned guides, invited us first to connect with the four directions and<br>
elements, then did a purifying ritual and finally invited us to drum. I'm<br>
not sure how long we drummed, but it was a great feeling of connection to<br>
the group and to nature. Toward the end, Leo guided us to connect with our<br>
grandmother's voice, then her grandmother's, and her grandmother's... right<br>
up to Mother Earth. The whole evening was a totally new experience for all<br>
of us. Some simply opened themselves to a new experience, others connected<br>
really strongly with the drumming vibration and energy or with nature. Some<br>
didn't feel any connection at all and used the Law of Two Feet after a<br>
while. Others felt uneasiness and resistance, and stayed with the group to<br>
try to understand why they felt that way. All of it was good and contributed<br>
in various ways to creating strong energy and respect within the group.<br>
<br>
The next day, at morning news, a courageous woman took the talking piece and<br>
shared that the drumming circle experience for her coloured Open Space with<br>
spirituality. She did not like that. Although she respected others'<br>
spirituality, she felt that Open Space did not have to go as far. That<br>
brought about a very rich conversation about spirit, openness, closeness,<br>
invitation, welcoming, rejecting, diversity and authenticity. Of course,<br>
this raised more questions than answers, and we will all continue to reflect<br>
on this for a while I'm sure!<br>
<br>
In the afternoon of the last day, a storyteller joined us to honour Diane<br>
Gibeault who initiated most of Francophone Open Space practitioners. Several<br>
of us knew about this, but it was a total surprise for Diane! Jacques<br>
Falquet started out telling a story about his information gathering from<br>
Harrison, Larry Peterson and a few of Diane's colleagues from her first<br>
steps in Open Space. (Warm thanks to these accomplices!) But the story felt<br>
incomplete, so he and Odette, another creative member of the organizing<br>
committee, asked us to join him in telling Diane's story. So we did a<br>
mini-open space on the theme of "How Diane changed our lives". We
posted<br>
"topics" and then worked in small groups to present particular
aspects of<br>
Diane's personality or story. It was a lot of fun, very powerful and a<br>
perfect way to honour Diane's openness, patience, generosity, humility and<br>
welcoming of diversity. That was taped on video, and I'm sure it will be<br>
posted soon on the Réseau francophone du Forum ouvert's blog<br>

The presentations were very moving, and<br>
sometimes very funny too. Even people who had just met Diane during the<br>
weekend contributed what they saw in Diane.<br>

So for the second time, it was a very rich and inspiring Forum ouvert sur le<br>
Forum ouvert. And it was a tremendously moving experience to honour Diane.<br>
Thank you Diane, for your patient efforts to bring Open Space to flourish in<br>
the Francophonie, and for being all of who you are! Thank you to the<br>
organizing committee: you created several learning experiences! Thank you to<br>
all participants, who made this a fun, interesting, nourishing and moving<br>
moment in time!<br>

FRENCH<br>
J'arrive de trois jours particulièrement rafraîchissants et inspirants au<br>
deuxième Forum ouvert sur le Forum ouvert en français. L'événement se<br>
déroulait dans un site où la nature était particulièrement belle et<br>
inspirante : au bord d'un lac entouré des collines si caractéristiques de la<br>
région de l'Outaouais.<br>
<br>
Nous étions une trentaine de participants à ce deuxième Forum ouvert sur le<br>
Forum ouvert, avec des niveaux d'expérience allant de nulle à des décennies.<br>
Nous avons appris, ri et pleuré aussi! Nous avons fait l'expérience du<br>
cercle de multiples façons : un cercle de récits, un Forum ouvert, un cercle<br>
de tambours et ce cercle de contes.<br>
<br>
Jeudi, Johanne Mantha et Hélène Lamoureux nous ont accueillis avec des<br>
rubans et des fleurs pour nous identifier. Bien plus joli qu'un carton!<br>
Puis, Marquis Bureau a animé le cercle de récits, qui nous a finalement<br>
amenés à réfléchir sur l'ouverture, la fermeture, l'abandon du contrôle, une<br>
certaine spiritualité. Vendredi, Stéphanie Rivier et Céline Côté ont lancé<br>
le Forum ouvert. C'était une première expérience pour Stéphanie, et une<br>
seconde pour Céline. Elles ont « ouvert l'espace » de façon très invitante,<br>
et ont magnifiquement maintenu ce climat d'ouverture. Bien des sujets de<br>
discussion ont été proposés, dont : les prédispositions au FO, expliquer le<br>
FO en peu de mots et simplement, promouvoir le FO dans un contexte<br>
organisationnel, convaincre les dirigeants de la force créative, utiliser le<br>
FO en milieu défavorisé, utiliser le FO avec des personnes qui ne savent ni<br>
lire ni écrire, les valeurs qui sous-tendent le FO, la suite du FO dans la<br>
Francophonie. Et ce ne sont là que quelques exemples.<br>
<br>
Après une journée de discussions intéressantes, un atelier de tam-tam nous<br>
attendait! Assis en cercle, nous avons appris à utiliser cet instrument de<br>
percussion et d'autres. Bien des fous rires, un peu de pratique, et beaucoup<br>
de changement, comme dans la vie! Léo Brooks, notre animateur, nous disait :<br>
« La vie ça change » et à ce signal, nous échangions nos instruments pour<br>
apprendre et jouer avec un nouvel objet tout en maintenant le rythme. Nous<br>
suivions littéralement le flot du changement! Graduellement, nous devenions<br>
plus à l'aise avec chaque instrument. Et nous ressentions de plus en plus<br>
cette connexion au rythme du groupe. L'harmonie finale était réellement<br>
surprenante et ô combien belle!<br>
<br>
Au coucher du soleil ce soir-là, nous nous sommes réunis autour d'un feu de<br>
joie au bord du lac. David Sherwood et Lucie Audet, deux spécialistes de la<br>
pratique ancestrale du cercle de tambours, nous ont guidés dans un rituel de<br>
célébration du solstice d'été. Ils nous ont d'abord invités à prendre<br>
contact avec les quatre directions et éléments, ensuite proposé un rituel de<br>
purification, et enfin amenés à tambouriner. Cette fois, pas d'effort de<br>
rythme musical. Il fallait uniquement frapper le tambour à notre propre<br>
rythme. Je ne sais trop combien de temps nous avons tambouriné, mais j'ai<br>
ressenti une sérénité, une connexion avec le reste du groupe et avec la<br>
nature. En fin de soirée, Léo nous a guidés vers la mémoire de la voix de<br>
notre grand-mère, puis celle de sa grand-mère, et celle de sa grand-mère à<br>
elle... jusqu'à celle de la Terre Mère. La soirée tout entière était une<br>
expérience nouvelle pour nous tous. Certains se sont simplement ouverts à<br>
l'expérience, d'autres ont ressenti une très forte connexion avec la<br>
vibration et l'énergie des tambours ou avec la nature. D'autres encore n'ont<br>
rien ressenti et ont simplement utilisé la Loi des deux pieds après un<br>
moment. D'autres se sont sentis mal à l'aise, résistants, et sont restés<br>
malgré tout pour tenter de comprendre ce sentiment. Quelle que soit la<br>
réaction, c'était une contribution à l'ensemble du groupe. Toutes ces<br>
contributions étaient bonnes et on créé une énergie et un respect très forts<br>
dans le groupe.<br>
<br>
Le lendemain, aux nouvelles du matin, une jeune femme a pris l'objet de<br>
parole pour exprimer son malaise face au cercle de tambours de la veille<br>
qui, selon elle, donnait une couleur spirituelle au Forum ouvert. Une<br>
couleur qu'elle n'aimait pas. Tout en respectant la spiritualité de chacun,<br>
elle disait estimer que le Forum ouvert n'avait pas à aller aussi loin. Ce<br>
commentaire courageux a donné lieu à une riche conversation sur la<br>
spiritualité, l'ouverture, la fermeture, l'invitation, l'accueil, le rejet,<br>
la diversité et l'authenticité. Bien sûr, tout cela a soulevé davantage de<br>
questions que de réponses, en plus d'une réflexion qui se poursuivra pour<br>
plusieurs, j'en suis sûre!<br>
<br>
Le comité organisateur s'est aussi révélé très créatif pour rendre hommage à<br>
Diane Gibeault, la pionnière du Forum ouvert dans la Francophonie! On avait<br>
en effet invité un conteur pour l'occasion! Nous étions plusieurs à être au<br>
courant, mais c'était une surprise totale pour Diane! Jacques Falquet a donc<br>
commencé par raconter sa cueillette d'information auprès de Harrison Owen,<br>
de Jacqueline Pelletier et d'autres collaborateurs des premiers pas de Diane<br>
dans le Forum ouvert (Un gros merci à ces complices!) L'histoire demeurait<br>
toutefois incomplète. Alors Odette, une autre membre de cet extraordinaire<br>
comité organisateur, et M. Falquet nous ont invités à joindre nos efforts<br>
aux siens pour raconter l'histoire de Diane. Nous avons donc fait un<br>
mini-forum ouvert sur le thème « Comment Diane a changé notre vie ». Nous<br>
avons affiché plusieurs « sujets » et avons travaillé en petits groupes pour<br>
présenter des aspects particuliers de l'histoire ou de la personnalité de<br>
Diane. Quel plaisir! C'était une activité passionnante et émouvante à la<br>
fois, parfaite pour rendre hommage aux qualités de Diane, dont l'ouverture,<br>
la patience, la générosité, l'humilité et l'accueil de la diversité. Tout<br>
cela a été capté sur vidéo, et je suis certaine que ce sera bientôt<br>
accessible ici sur le blogue. Les présentations étaient très touchantes, et<br>
parfois aussi très drôles. Même des gens qui ne connaissaient Diane que<br>
depuis jeudi soir lui ont rendu hommage<br>

C'était donc un deuxième Forum ouvert sur le Forum ouvert aussi riche<br>
qu'inspirant. Et c'était merveilleusement agréable et touchant de rendre<br>
hommage à Diane. Merci Diane, pour ta persévérance qui a amené le Forum<br>
ouvert à fleurir dans la Francophonie, et pour être telle que tu es! Merci<br>
au comité organisateur : vous avez créé de multiples expériences<br>
enrichissantes! Merci à tous les participants, qui ont fait de l'événement<br>
un moment joyeux, intéressant, nourrissant et émouvant!<br>
