in 1997, the Washington State Arts Commission convened a series of OS gatherings
around the state on the future of the arts in the state. In all, about
1,500 people from individual artists to major arts organizations
participated. The arts commission created a strategic plan that guided
them for years from the experience; not to mention deepening the quality of
relationships between and among the organizations involved.</FONT></DIV>
