DC could do <BR>some good now. If you think maybe, I am happy to help with
sending out <BR>invitations- what's the best people's space DC has for
Open?<BR><BR>Sustainability of States like Louisana needed long-term
investment but seem to <BR>have lost out in short-term DC/Fed power plays. I
am not sure I have ever seen <BR>American media take on big politics and big
business in the way they have the <BR>last week in asking about how slow the
response was and why category 4 <BR>protection grants have been denied by the
feds. As one journalist puts it in a <BR>broadcast today: "This is the
biggest displacement of people since the <BR>American Civil War and it must
have political consequences as the people are <BR>being scattered across the
US." <BR><BR>It may be a dream, but I think there could be a different way of
governing the <BR>United States as a network of states that openly need each
other's diversity of<BR>cultures, sustained transparently by true investment
not speculative forces, <BR>and by & for the compound interests of
peoples, not just the biggest powers. <BR>Would New Orleans be under water
today if the toss of the coin that put Bush <BR>in power had gone Gore's way.
I dunno but some compound policies of <BR>sustainability and transparency
these last 5 years would have taken the world <BR>& the USA to a different
space than that we have got. 2 months ago, I thought <BR>and still feel that
the future plight of Londoners is pretty awful for reasons <BR>we peoples have
had no vote on; of course, that of New Orleans is a greater <BR>conflict but
both groups of citizens - and my guess ever more citizen groups <BR>are at
risk until DC's institutions gets recociled with governing for peoples <BR>not
