an important project: the second edition of<I> The Change Handbook: Group
Methods for Shaping the Future</I> to be published by Berrett-Koehler and
co-edited by Peggy Holman (<A href="">peggy@opencirclecompany.com</A>), Tom
Devane (<A href="">tomd@tomdevane.com</A>) , and Steve Cady (<A
href="">steve@stevecady.com</A>)<I>.</I> Based on the highly successful
first edition of the book, this new edition will be a reference book for
leaders, change agents, and students of change. The methods included in
this book have emerged in recent years as the leading means to meet the changing
nature of change for organizations and communities. Please pass this Call
for Proposals on to anyone who may be interested. The Call for Proposals
and Proposal Instructions may be found at <A

<P align=justify><FONT face="Times New Roman">We are looking for methods to
include that foster a systemic perspective, involve workforce participation, and
generally involve groups of people coming together for the emergence of
collective plans, decisions, and action. If you have created a methodology that
contributes to the theory and practice of systemic participative change, we
invite you to send us a proposal. If selected, you will write a section on
your method, provide information for a comparative matrix, and furnish reference
information for the reader who wishes to learn more about your work. We
will also be addressing effectiveness and sustainability of methods and will be
asking you to provide additional information to help us address this
topic. We currently anticipate that no chapter will exceed 5,000 words,
and some entries will be shorter. </FONT></P>
<P align=justify><FONT face="Times New Roman">The objective of this project is
to update The Change Handbook so that it continues to be a convenient, readable,
accurate one-stop reference guide for people who are considering systematic
organizational or community change. This book addresses the “what is it”
of each change method, not “how to do it.” Its purpose is to help the
reader determine which approaches might fit their situation and guide them to
other sources for more detailed information. The book is intended to
answer questions such as:</FONT></P>

more methods?</FONT></LI></DIV><BR></UL></UL>
<P align=justify><FONT face="Times New Roman">This book is unique because it
provides acknowledged experts’ experiences with methods being employed
successfully today. This is an opportunity for you to state what you
believe needs to be known about your approach to change. People who read
the book will understand the work based on your description, and will have an
opportunity to compare it to other change methods they are
considering.</FONT></P>

contact information for the three editors are included in the attachment.
