<DIV>While not exactly an Open Space, the U S WEST Open Space video was
certainly jazz. I basically described what was going to happen to Justin
Harris, who directed the film. He took it from there, randomly
interviewing people, shooting lots of B-roll and following the stories of the
people who had interesting things to say.</DIV>

sounds like a terrrific contribution.</DIV>

Filmmaking</DIV>

<DIV><FONT color=#400080>Greetings from the very north east coast of the
USA!</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT color=#400080></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT color=#400080>As a newly minted documentary filmmaker and as an old
OS facilitator, I would like to combine the two and was wondering if anyone
has done this? I am producing a doc with a church and want to do OS with
them at the beginning to get their input on what they want it to be about and
have them tell me what they want filmed. Everyone one in the church
wsill be touch by this film and I would like to get their ideas. My feeling is
that OS would be excellent to use with a community and push the envelope in
filmmaking...making documentaries more collaborative. In essence, OS
would help them say what they want the film to say, in a compelling way,
and not what I think it should say. My filmmaking mentors keep telling
me that I need to maintain control with the decision making, especially in the
editing suite. They also say I am being naive. Since I teach
collaborative leadership seminars, I want to practice what I preach. Am
I being naive? Do you think this would work? Anybody have
experience with this? </FONT></DIV>

<DIV><FONT color=#400080>Maybe I am behind the times and it has already being
done. If so, I would really appreciate other's experiences in this
area.</FONT></DIV>
