We will be using BigMind Catalyst software, and it does have an email participation feature. This will help those who are paying per-minute fees for Internet access.<BR>

<BR>

We are collecting phone numbers in case there are any glitches — for example, if we receive an incorrect email address we need an alternate method of contact.<BR>

<BR>

Our goal is broad based international participation. So far we have registrations from Israel, New Zealand, Columbia, the US and Portugal. Following the principle of “whoever comes are the right people,” I believe we will have a fantastic learning experience together.<BR>

This is a very interesting initiative.<BR>

But there are some problems: if the intention is to have only <BR>

an on-line event (whit boards and messages sent on-line) the <BR>

participation will be restricted to countries where telephone <BR>

calls are free or to people from Institutions - namely Universities <BR>

and Public Sector - where Internet is free and unrestricted. <BR>

<BR>

I would advise the design team to create ways for everything <BR>

to be distributed also as e-mails. <BR>

<BR>

On the other hand, even the fact that the subscription is online (and <BR>

comments will be for the most part private) doesn't allow for free comments <BR>

of OSlist members, thus inhibiting a more open (space) discussion of opinions.<BR>

<BR>

At last, I can't see why to have the telephone number of subscribers is <BR>

important for accepting a subscription. After all this a virtual conference, <BR>

isn't it?<BR>
