Last week I visited again a democratic school and this time I found the 
perfect match to open space. In fact, of the more than 40,000 schools in 
Germany, only about 100 are really democratic (and that, although 
democracy should actually be the basis in schools). After working with 
schools for more than ten years now and accompanied more than a hundred 
of them in their development (often with events in open space, partly 
over years), I now saw in the Active School Cologne 
(https://www.aktive-schule-koeln.de/) the perfect open space school: It 
actually has a bulletin board on rolls, which is located in the entrance 
and celebration area and on which every day issues, concerns and offers 
can be posted. The rooms are named horizontally, the starting times 
vertically. And both learning guides and pupils use this every day. Great!
Even in Israel, the "motherland" of democratic schools, I have never 
seen anything like that:-)
It works without saying that this school lacks such counterproductive 
things as grades or year classes.
