[OSList] lecturing on OST???

…my first reaction after reading Raffis question ref. a lecture on OST was “what is that good for? – A lecture might make people just following their interpretations created by their points of view, still don’t knowing ”

Then I read Barry Owens contribution, which made me laugh! – proposing a lecture on OST for indecisive people by just putting them into an OST!

That’s a good point!

And some of the lectured people might even get the irony of this situation!

I could imagine to do the same, in case I would run into a similar situation in the future – thank you Barry!!

Yrs Gunther ;-)

Raffi - I say "Do it!"

I've done this a few times with a slight twist. I set the room up as if it were an event - Circle of chairs - posters - paper/markers/tape in the center - Time/place matrix

Then I've done a normal opening including opening the Marketplace.

Each time I have done this, I have had less than an hour allotted and have found that to be plenty of time to end with whatever Q&A necessary.

I figure, the worst case would be that they would decide not to do OS in which case the right thing would have happened.

Cheers!

b

spacenik friends-

So, a friend would like to invite me to do an OST for her cultural organization. She senses, though, that before really offering to do an OST for them that they'd really feel more comfortable with me if I were to give a lecture on OST, presumably with Q&A.

This organization invites people to give lectures, so this is what they are used to.

My friend's thinking is that after they see me give a lecture then they'll feel enough trust and receptivity to having an OST.

Would you be willing to give a lecture??

Your thoughts?

Part of me has me thinking that it is important to meet people where they are-- and if indeed that is what they are most comfortable with, perhaps indeed start with a lecture?

merci!
