The questions you pose  "why am I here? why are we here?  Are so timely for me.  Today, and truly in the last week, the educational institution I work for has left me disappointed, disillusioned and down right pissed off!  
So I reflect.  I am here for the students. They expect a quality education and we must deliver it to them, no matter what stands in the way.  The students keep me coming to work each day as I strive to be a better educator.  
It is good to ask Why!

I live in an intentional community called Pinakarri, which means “pay close attention” or “listen deeply” (literally “ear stand”, Nyangumarta language, north-west Australia). Sixteen years ago, after 8 years of planning, about 35 adults and kids moved in. Although we’d agreed on how we wanted to live together (share stuff, support each other, build community, etc) I wasn’t satisfied that we were sufficiently connected to a common intention. In anticipation of getting together I invited folks to consider: Why are you here? Why are we here?

When we gathered to share our reflections one member said, “I’m here to learn to love.” And that was it. 

Through Pinakarri we learn to love has held us through the thick and thin of co-operative living ever since.
