Hello Everyone,
Before the Paris attacks I started the poetry contest which is run by a
different person every 6 months on this email discussion list. The rules
(bottom of this email) were that the poem would be short (8 lines or less)
and that it would use each letter in your alphabet. It was playful. Only
one person on this list submitted a poem.
After the attacks, I thought it would be appropriate to open up the rules
and invite anyone to share a poem on any topic without any restrictions.
No one submitted any poems.
*Writing in the context of the Paris attacks is difficult. I'm going to
give this more time–until November 30th. If you feel moved to share a
poem, please email it to me by then.* I will present all the poems to the
list without the poet's name attached and the list will choose the next
Poet Laureate.
