A good friend from my dharma center is looking for a place to stay in March for about a week in Halifax.

If you have any ideas, that would be greatly appreciated. This would be an excellent opportunity to contribute to a twentysomething who is passionately committed to service from a strong foundation of spiritual practice. 

Mitchell also has an interest in the process arts; he has taken the Genuine Contact OST learning workshop with me and is curious about the possibilities of integrating the process arts with community work. 

I have found his presence to touch me and many others.

Dear friends,

I will be
finishing a meditation retreat at Gampo Abbey in Pleasant Bay (i think near or
on Cape Breton) on March 3rd, 2014.

Right now I have a wish to stay around 1 week in Halifax area when the retreat ends (March 3rd-10th) before going to
Buddhayana a forest meditation retreat center in Scotsburn for an indefinite period of time. After this I might want to spend a few more days in Halifax to organize myself (train tickets, emails, etc.) before maybe going south into the states.
 
I am
looking for somewhere I can stay over for free for the times I am in Halifax as
it looks like I won’t have very much money left by the time I get to
Nova Scotia and pay for my retreat at Gampo Abbey.
 
I would
enjoy offering myself while staying over at your house in Halifax in whatever
way seems most useful (such as doing chores around the house; we could talk beforehand about specifics).
 
As you
can see my plans aren't that certain at this time because I would like to leave the option open that I might stay over longer at Gampo Abbey or Buddhayana if I felt called to. It would be very nice to
know a few people who I could stay with for 1-7 days if/when I needed. 

If it
was necessary for you that I pick specific dates in order to stay over then I could do that and get back to you with details before February 15th.
 
During
the days I am in Halifax I plan to be practicing meditation, seeing if I could volunteer on
an aboriginal reservation, helping you out, seeing what else I could see and learn from
Halifax, and whatever else seems worthwhile.
 
I am
particularly interested in indigenous cultures, process arts, and astronomy as
they seem to, among other things, deepen my connection with my aspiration to
live authentically and kindly (if you know of good opportunities for connecting with these interests outside Halifax but around NS I'd appreciate hearing about them).

I begin
my retreat on January 10th. During my retreat I will have very
limited access to phone or email. I could check email and voice mail 2-4 times during the 6 weeks if necessary.
