Dear Patricia

I believe such a gathering as a positive effect. Many of the
Developmentally Disabled (DD) Adults are in situations in there life
where they are "monopoly contract service receiver". If there is a
problem then they often have few avenues of action, and the ability to
use some of these actions may be affected by the disability. Sometimes
there is also violence and abuse, opening space may relive some
pressure that is suppressing the reporting of such incidents.

At my trip to the Nordic OSonOS in Norway I had a discussion on the
need to open up space for people that are receiving service from
institutions like prisons, schools, homes, day-centers. And somehow
give a good follow up where the disadvantageous service receive could
have a voice and an avenue for trans-formative action.

There are plenty of themes that come to mind, and there are different
openings in the authority levels that need to be contacted and invited
to invite for different themes, perhaps a sponsor group could help us
there.

p.s.

I belive many list readers did not see your message as it is in the
subject thread of "Open Space and Authority". I have placed a new
subject line tread of "Open Space for Developmentally Disabled Adults"

Has anyone done an OS with developmentally disabled adults? I'm
starting to work with the Self-Advocacy Association, and think such a
gathering could be transformative.
