Congratulations Jasmina.
Truly inspiring and in itself, the broad communication of this recognition creates an invitation to many more to look into opening more space in their work and in their lives. Thanks Suzanne for spreading the good news with your personal testimony.

Diane

Subject: [OSList] Jasmina Nikolic recognized for opening access and space in Higher Education in Serbia

This "hot of the press", happening right now the the University of Belgrade,  in Serbia, future host location for WOSonOS.  Truly exciting news!

Jasmina Nikolic receives an
international "Open Access" award for her work in Education and Research in Serbia.  Accorded the esteemed title of Archont.
Open Access Week 2013 is a
global event, now in its 7th year, that promotes open access as a new norm in
scholarship and research.
This year's theme is "Open Access: Redefining Impact" and a
diverse range of events are happening around the world this week (October
21 and 27).
Open access (OA) – free, immediate, online access to the results of
scholarly research, and the right to use and re-use those results as you need –
has the power to transform the way research and scientific inquiry are
conducted. It has direct and widespread implications for academia, medicine,
science, industry, and for society as a whole.
This is an opportunity for the academic and research community to continue
to learn about the potential benefits of open access, to share what they’ve
learnt with colleagues, and to help inspire wider participation.
Jasmina and an army of students, faculty and others are truly busting the gates, doing some fabulous education reform work in Serbia and also inviting the same with other higher education institutions in the European Union.  I had the opportunity to see some of this first hand last month. Wonderful to see the opening of space through Open Space and the execution of work happening with Kanban and Scrum that Jasmina has been inviting. So much positive and creative energy in a spirit of shared leadership -- passion and responsibility.
Heard about this yesterday and so much fun to be part of this breaking news story with Jasmina's colleague Jelena Kamaric sending me live photo.  Posted  it just now on Open Space Technology Facebook.
Congrads Jas,
Suzanne
