Dear colleagues and friends and os-afficionados,
a colleague posed the question:
"Is it worth going?" (to the Learning Exchange in Utrecht).

Here is my response (slightly edited), including sending the invitation
(see attachment).
Please lean back and read my response, feel invited to come to Utrecht
and tell others:

"Dear colleague,

the event in Utrecht is the third European Open Space Learning
Exchanges. The LEX, as we call them, are convened when the Worldwide
Open Space on Open Space (WOSonOS) is not in Europe (this year the
WOSonOS was in Florida, 2014 it will be in Belgrade).
The first two were in Paris in 2009 (with the WOSonOS in Taiwan) and in
Sardinia in 2011 (with the WOSonOS in Chile).
I was both in Paris and Sardinia and will be in Utrecht this year for
several reasons:

---events that use Open Space Technology are productive and enjoyable,
especially if they are the whole pizza, as happens to be the case for
the LEX events:
16 hours spread over three days, sleeping twice, action planning on the
third day. Very few open space facilitators actually get sponsors to
invest that much time. The main reason, I think, is that many
facilitators themselves rarely experience the power of a three day open
space gathering

---great people show up which is no surprise considering the first
principle of open space: Whoever comes is the right people

---projects, cooperations and net-supportive activities emerge from
these os events, even more so than at the world level because Europe is
our natural playing field (ok, I have been to Pakistan, Kenya etc with
os-projects but my daily work and life is in Europe and more precisely
in Germany and then in Berlin, I have facilitated 76 os
events in Berlin)

---in depth learning is commonplace at these events regarding our work
as a facilitator (role, basic assumptions), the techniques of
facilitating an os event down to the nitty gritty, and, what I find very
important, the meaning and nature of selforganisation in our work and lives.

For the details of the event, have a look at the attachment... it is an
invitation in the making, we adjust and change it as we get feedback
from participants / potential participants."

Hope to see a bunch of you from France in Utrecht!

Greetings from Berlin and have a great weekend
cheers
mmp
