What a marvelous story. I only wish I could have been a fly on the wall. A
very small one lest I interrupt the flow of conversation. Seriously, Claudia
this is just wonderful. Opening space for those who find their lives so
constricted is, in my view, a sacred opportunity. It would be my hope that
those who participated will feel called upon to do the same for their
fellows.

Subject: [OSList] Open Space for Palestinian refugee women

Dear Open Spacers!

Hope this email finds you well!

Just wanted to share with you that on the International Women's Day, we
started an Open Space for Palestinian refugee women living in
camps in Jordan on "My identify... My memories... My future..." sponsored
and organized by GIZ in cooperation with UNRWA.
It has been facilitated by Salwa Sukhon, a new Jordanian colleague who I
have trained, while I just co-hosted the event with her.

More than 60 women came from different camps in Jordan and from Gaza, shared
their experiences and developed ideas.
After the evening news, one of the participants started singing songs from
Palestine and the whole group was traveling mentally to their
lost homeland, eyes filling with tears, feeling the pain and their yearning
for their homes of which they still have kept the keys...
The 1st day ended with a song which animated the whole group to dance Dabke
around the circles' center,
demonstrating the strength of Palestinian women, sending a greeting to all
of them in Palestine and outside, wherever they are currently.

They identified more than 40 issues to discuss, we continue until Sunday.
You find the event on facebook under "International Forum of Palestinian
refugee women" - hope you like it.

Warm wishes from Jordan,

Claudia
