Hi Carla,

I don't know whether anyone has made that association in written form; however, I can let you know that the Agile Alliance (the non-profit trade association for Agile practitioners) has a program "Agile Open" which has the purpose of supporting Agile-themed open space conferences around the world.
http://www.agilealliance.org/programs/agile-open-program/

At it's annual conference, the Agile Alliance supports an area called, "Open Jam" which was inspired by open space methods. It's organizers encourage all conference participants to offer and schedule ad hoc sessions throughout the conference week. Many other groups have used open space principles to guide their Agile IT work.

I'm also familiar with an Agile coach who has organized Open Space events to launch new projects and teams.

I have not heard of any companies that have embraced both Agile and Open Space as guides for working. As a set of practices Agile and Open Space are related through their common support of work accomplished through self-organizing groups, their recognition of the role of emergence in complex systems/situations, and encouragement for finding ways to tap the creative potential inherent in collaborative work. Seems as though it could be a match made in heaven for your workplace. Please keep us posted on how it goes!

And if you'd like to discuss this more off-list, I'd be happy to join you.

member, Agile Alliance board of directors, 2008-current
