[OSList] The WOSonOS Talking Stick...safe and sound in Florida!

Excellent…

That talking stick was a personal gift from me to the worldwide OSonOS community, used when Laurel Doersam and I hosted the gathering here in Vancouver in 2001. For eleven years it has circled the globe.

The stick is a small version of the west coast talking sticks used in longhouse ceremonies here in British Columbia. It was carved by a local carver. When you use it, the pointy end goes down. In a full length version, you would put that end on the ground, meaning that you have claimed the floor and have a right to speak. IN the smaller version, rest it on your knee, or on a table, if you are sitting at one.

Glad to hear of the success of London and the shift to Florida. Sharon Joy and I have had some fun together, and what she is holding in Tampa Bay is a fascinating and magical community of dialogue practitioners. I'll try to make it next year.

And please, Suzanne, if you would like to kick around ideas about hosting OSonOS, do not hesitate to call me (or any of the other previous hosts). It's an honour and an amazing experience to Open Space for Open Space - a bit like telling jokes to comedians, and it's one you will never forget.

Cheers,

Chris

A bit like a dream, I feel the lingering conversations and the purposefulness of the work that we do and all that it invites inside us and others.

It will be created in the spirit of "one less thing to do", leaving lots of room for people to join in the planning, to give and to receive as we continue to ignite the passion within us while courageously and boldly taking responsibility for what we care most about and where we can make the greatest difference wherever we are in the world

Close to the Tampa International Airport (about 30 minutes) and close to the Orlando International Airport (90 minutes), St. Pete is a picturesque community that has a unique and quiet beauty with palm trees and beaches, an inviting downtown with cafes, restaurants, ice cream shops and boutiques, Farmers' Market, famous museums (The Dali), a vibrant university (where we are hoping to hold our event) and many lodging options to fit many budgets.

We did not feel that August, September or October were an option because of Hurricane Season in Florida (unpredictable). May is a great time of the year because of the beautiful weather and lower pricing outside of the traditional tourist season.

Her front balcony overlooks a beautiful park, palm trees and the sea. It is because of Sharon Joy that I discovered Open Space and a whole bunch more in the world of transformation, science, system change, etc.

You heightened my awareness about the importance of the work we all do in this world - and the great need there is all over the globe - and the simplicity - good reminder that we are all the experts and that the persons with the least experience may be the ones who have most to contribute. The gifts you brought were very important to me."
