frauke-jan and all salam!

thanks, frauke, for stimulating this discussion!

i think i share what others have said about the two proposed principles being prescriptive rather than descriptive.

what i've been doing recently to address what you're pointing at, frauke, was inspired by some interesting exchange on the art of hosting email list.

in the opening - towards the end - i invite people to hold two questions in their awareness for the duration of the event:

1. what could this event be?
in other words, if this gathering could matter for each of those who came personally and collectively and also for the world, what would take place here?

2. who can i be?
what do i wish to call forth in myself for the duration of the event to make number one possible.

do i have any clear evidence that adding this to the opening helps? don't know. but it does feel right to add it...

i'd also add that a truly open space is one which is welcoming of people acting cynically, critically, etc. maybe that is the best they can do in the moment...

my two rials./kopecks/drams/laris...

greetings from this southwest corner of occupied obamastan,
raffi
