[OSList] Question about OST meetings/conferences including people with disabilities

Dear Rochelle,
I was privileged to facilitate OS for AKIM the Israeli organization for the
Intellectually Disabled last January .
The main obstacle is our fears or paternalism. If you make the right
preparation with the people that work with them on a Dayli base or with
their relatives (Just explain them what  OST is all about), You'll find
that people with mental or intellectual disabilities can have great
contribution. They elaborate issues, participate at group discussions and
mainly had a lot of fan. .. the initiatives that came out from this event
will change a lot at the organization, including change the term Mental
mental retardation into intellectual disability
