[OSList] Re : first open space baby / and the 5th Principle

As Lori points out: “Babies have been self-organising their births for a
very, very long time!” Riddley’s arrival, as indeed all such arrivals, is
always a special treasure, but hardly unique. His birth, like all births
precedently and all those to come, always self organize. To be sure, we may
help, but at the end of the day, Babies are born all by themselves, with an
assist from Mother, of course. Not surprisingly the 5 Principles of Open
Space all apply, as Phelim and Matilda discovered. Truth be told, every
birth is an opening of (new) space, and it would seem that birthing and
opening space are two ways of describing the same thing – the emergence of
the new. As we all know, that emergence can be unsettling, to say nothing of
painful, but it is also the cutting edge of life itself, no pun intended.

Riddley’s birth was a wonderful moment in time, a true gift for his parents,
and eventually for all the others who will share in his new life. For me, it
was also a gift of possibly a deeper sort, or certainly of broader extent –
reminding me that birthing/opening space is not just the special province of
babies. It is an everyday, everywhere phenomenon. The 5th Principle at work.
“Wherever it happens is the right place.” Thank you Riddley and welcome to
this world!

First open space baby, maybe, but also the latest in a long long line of
them. Babies have been self-organising their births for a very very long
time!

Welcome wee one!

Hi Phelim

Congratulations to you and Matilda on giving virtual birth to the first baby
born to the four principles! As they say in Britain, WELL DONE!

We've had open space weddings and even open space funerals, but this is the
first open space baby.

As Harrison always says "be prepared to be surprised," well you surprised
us.

All the very best to Mother and your bonny wee Son.

Kerry
Edinburgh

PS You do know your son can now run for president and is an American
citizen!
