[OSList] How to prepare to be surprised?

I find some sort of regular practice -- for me, it's meditation -- opens me inside to be equipped to be present with whatever happens outside. I think of it as cultivating equanimity.

An image comes to mind: the resilience of bamboo -- with strong roots, it bends with the wind.

And something Harrison says. When faced with conflict, open more space. Same applies to being surprised. It's a good thing to do when surprised.

appreciatively,
Peggy
