Stella - Delightful!! And. way back at the beginning of OST people
discovered just what you experienced. Kids love it. We would have several
hundred folks coming to an annual event (many repeaters). Over time some
came pregnant, and pregnancy delivered - Kids showed up. Unlike virtually
all other similar gatherings time/space was sufficiently open so that
parents and kids could take care of critical needs, naps for instance. As
the years went along some of the early participants (children) became repeat
offenders. I remember one young lady who showed up for a number of years and
then came back as an adult. Fun!

Subject: [OSList] having children in the open space
As I said earlier this week, I've been directing a devised theatre piece, in
Open Space. When the daughter (aged 6) of one of our designers came to
rehearsal (there was no other childcare available for her, but it's def not
a kid's show), she got on with her own things, watched us for a bit, and
then did some drawings for us - some butterflies and bees for our Open
Spaces. She also drew a flower. We weren't sure what it was the symbol for,
but as she had made it we decided it had a relevance and we put it up on the
wall anyway - because we liked it. Last night, at our post-show discussion
talking about making a show in Open Space, I worked out what it stands for.
It stands for 'children welcome' in the room. Children in utero, children in
the space. As a woman with no children I'm really excited that we are
starting to find a way to welcome those children (and therefore those
parents/guardians who often find they're 'not the right people' because they
cannot manage both events and childcare) into our spaces.
