Today

It has snowed a flurry here.
I hear schools closing around me,
the sound of galoshes tromping along
patchwork streets which wait
to be scratched 
by the indifference of children
seeking sledding opportunities.
Alas, it is but a wisp on the wind,
gently nudging the space
billowing through the neighborhood.
