Dear Ashley,
a wonderful present at a start of a new week! Got up weary and now I am
smiling!
Reminded me of an OS event in Berlin in 2000 with first through 6th
graders from 4 different after school day care centers, here is the material
> http://www.michaelmpannwitz.de/index.php?id=98

There are 6 parts to the documentation there
-Die Einladung - The invitation (What is it we like to do most in our
after school day care centers)
-Das Deckblatt - The cover sheet to the Book of Proceedings
-Die TeilnehmerInnen - The participants
-Der Verlauf - The schedule
-Die Anliegen - The issues
-Plakate aus den Gruppen - Material from the break out sessions
-Die Ergebnisblätter - Action Planning sheets with project details

It was the most productive 3 hour OS I ever had the privilege to be a
part of complete with 3 rounds of break out sessions and action
planning. It took place in a church ... the minister asked us to leave
everything up for the Sunday Service, a real surprise and some insight
in the social activities into the activities of the parish.

Lets have more reports on OS with kids!!
And enter them into our collective memory data base

What is something that a group of people working together can change?
What is something that you think is important in our school or in our world=
that you would like to discuss? The event started with a poem written by on=
e of the students on the planning team:Our Speech by Mila Kopp1 personto a =
small groupto a large groupopportunity and ideas and changetogether we can =
make a differenceAnd here are some of my favorite comments:

STOP Globle Warming (happy voice) in ten years (Deep Voice)
make a complante to the president
Invent vical that runs on trash or sun=2C rain
Nicely tell others to be nice
Help stop war by traiding reciorses
If you are shy talk
If you are a chatterbox let others have a chance to speak
I agree with (another student) that you don't need that many people=2C you =
only need like 5=2C you don't need like 15 or 20 or 50. You don't need huge=
 numbers like that.=20
I learned that when everyone pitches in just a little bit=2C it can make a =
giant difference.=20
I discovered how pollution can make the air dirty and hurt people and anima=
ls
I discovered a lot of people have ideas too.
I discovered that once you think about it=2C there is a lot more waste
I learned it can actually be pretty fun to work with other people
Teacher: I learned that you all can have important conversations by yoursel=
ves and that you don't need the adults there. I also learned that you can s=
elf-organize what you want to talk about.
I discovered there is a lot of things to change and like President Obama=2C=
we should start. You can read more details about these events at : http://e=
