OS or not?

Dear Oscar!

I would support your idea to have a 3-hours OS as a part of the conference.
I would make an opening as short as possible and would plan 45 minutes for
it. But it depends on how many people will participate and how much time
they will nedd for proposing the topics. Two sessions of 45 minutes is
enough for good conversations.
I would give more time for closing. If you have the possibility to print
copies of all reports almost instantly and distribute them to all
participants - that's great!
If not and you will give them reports later or send via e-mail it would be
good to give them some time to share their experience and to really feel the
collective wisdom in the container of the closing circle.
I know that normally the closing circle is not for the reports, only for
sharing of the experience, what has been learnt and so. But our practice of
many short (3 hours) OST meetings with different categories of civil
servants and other groups shows that it's really important to have time for
collective communication in the circle at the end. We actually have
presentation of the reports and have good group discussions. After that
closing with bells around the circle - giving everybody chance to say
something.
The group size vary between 12 and 60.
Even at the internation events like Global Leadership Forum we practice to
have 3 hours OS with groups up to 90, using different languages (Russian and
English).
Good luck with your event!

Subject: [OSLIST] OS or not?

Hi All!

I'm going to facilite a 3 hours discussion session as the last part of a
1-day conference here in Sweden.
I wanted to make it a 1-day OS meeting, but now there will be keynote
speakers before lunch (10-13), and discussions after lunch (14-17).

Is it worth trying a 3 hours OS, or should I try something else?

I'm thinking of a pretty tight schedule with a 1-hour opening session, 2
x 45 min breakouts and 20 min to finish. No printed proceedings, just
photocopies of breakout notes.

Some feedback is very much appreciated!

Best wishes,
Oscar
