Dear Michael,
after your excellent explanation of what a Stammtisch is in English, I felt
like checking Wikipedia for its definition and found some interesting
answers in different languages:
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stammtisch (German)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tertulia (English)
http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tertulia (Spanish)
Unfortunately I'll not join you on May 4th, but I wish you a good time and a
lot of space.
Dominik

Betreff: [OSLIST] Stammtisch: What on earth is that

Dear colleagues all over our planet,
the definitely most important date on the calender of every os-nick is
fast approaching: May 4, which is the first Monday in an odd month and
that means Stammtisch-time beginning at about 7pm.
Several have already been announced!
For a complete picture of what Stammtische are and how you find one in
your neighborhood (if there is none, set it up)see the mail below that I
sent to Bhav 2 years ago...it beats phone conferences, SMSes, Twitters,
etc. simply because you can see, hug, flirt, imbibe your favorite drink,
show off your new hat, negotiate a contract, pass artifacts around...all
right on the spot.
If in Berlin on the 4th of May, join us

cheers
