Hi Thomas,

Here is the text for the law in French missing in your version and 2 modifications to the French principles to reflect the original English meaning and to avoid gender exclusiveness. I am catching up on the recent list messages, hope I am not too late with this contribution.

The French has been modified, in our part of the world at least, on the following:

- the 3rd principle now reflects the English “could have” with the word “pouvait”. The word “devait” you have in English means What “should” happen instead of the actual What “could” happen. What should happen has a whole different meaning than could and is incompatible with the principle itself and OST as a whole. We used it too at the outset until a participant pointed to the error. Subtleties are not always obvious.

So it reads: Ce qui arrive est ce qui pouvait arriver

(WHATEVER HAPPENS IS THE ONLY THING THAT COULD HAVE)

- Also to be more inclusive, the following wording of the 1st principle circumvents the limitations of the gender of the French language; also “se présentent” is a closer translation to “that show up” instead of “participate” – a nuance: one may show up but not actively participate in the discussion.

“Les personnes qui se présentent sont les bonnes”.

Here is the set of all the French principles with the above changes and the law of the 2 feet or law of mobility:

Les personnes qui se présentent sont les bonnes

Ce qui arrive est la seule chose qui pouvait arriver

Quand ça commence, c’est le bon moment

Quand c’est fini, c’est fini

La loi des deux pieds… « Si vous n’apprenez plus et ne contribuez plus,

 passez à autre chose! »
