many thanks, peggy, harrison, et al...

invitation, for me includes calling and being willing to be called.
being called being the mystery.  and 'supporting the invitation' or
'being inviting' is my language for welcoming.  and i agree, the
purpose is the thing that comes before.  and it's the great challenge
of invitation.  what am i called to call out?  on some level, in at
least some circumstances, i think the invitation can be rightly
described as a prayer, offered to the mystery of "all of us."  over
the last some years i've marvelled at how far i've been able to
stretch the meaning of "invitaion", how many things now fit "inside"
of the "practice" of it... and so interesting here to have these
things teased out and articulated in new words (for me), the old
ordinary words, like welcome, mystery, homework, intention.
