here is a story of what 35 young people got started in racine,
wisconsin. like harrison says, they noticed it as a process, but
really didn't care. after the event, they asked if they were an
action or a process. they decided they were both, called themselves
'youth action' and got on with doubling, then doubling again, their
numbers. they took on and beat the local chamber of commerce and did
a number of other things, including teach ost to other young people
nationally. http://www.michaelherman.com/cgi/wiki.cgi?YouthActionRacineStory

then there is the program that julie smith championed in fairbanks,
alaska, where 250 youth and adults worked on 'becoming peacemakers.'
we did 2 days of conference and 2 days of 'training' and action
planning and six months later julie reported an average of 3 ost
meetings happening somewhere in the area each week, some of them
official meetings and others small groups of students meeting to
resolve conflicts or plan projects afterschool.
