homeopathic open space

As one lively list thread discusses and embodies synchronicity, I found a
synchronous swirl in another part of the same thread when Marei, you wrote
in response to Michael H:

 <http://lifecultivatinglife.blogspot.com>This step, sometimes called an
"aggravation" or a "healing crisis" can be part of the order of healing. It
is not considered to be necessary in every case--because it would be
gentler, and therefore higher level healing, to administer a therapy that
avoids aggravation--but sometimes can't be avoided, especially when there is
a lot that needs to be "discharged", and so it can indeed be a sign that the
process is moving in the right direction.

The synchronous part is that just that same week, I had also been inspired
to think in healing process terms, specifically of what in naturopathic
medicine we call "the therapeutic order," in response to part of a post from
Harrison:

What is different, or can be different, is that in Open Space we learn to

The goal of naturopathic & homeopathic medicine is to support and allow the
vital force, the inherent healing power of nature, to do as clearly and
easily as possible what it will naturally do if nothing is in its way. So,
Step One, right at the beginning of the hierarchy of treatment, is to
"Remove the Obstacles to Cure" and establish the conditions for health.
Harrison, your comment makes me think that maybe one of the purposes that
opening space can serve in the healing process of a group or organization is
to remove the obstacles that are in the way of its optimal health, and to
establish the conditions in which health naturally arises.

Although, actually...for many of us, there is a Step Zero: "First, Do
Nothing." Just being. Pause for a moment--or a day, or a week, as
appropriate. Keep breathing.
Maybe even sleep on the problem. ;-)
