Ho

Dear all, speaking of praise: When I was introduced to OS in 1989 in
Amsterdam, we were told by somebody that one doesn't clap hands when someone
agrees with what someone else said in a plenary discussion (clapping hands
takes a lot of time and does something to the energy), but say "ho" (that's
what it sounds like). I used to think this was what the native Americans
said, spelled "hugh". Last year as I re-entered OSLIST, I somehow began to
wonder whether this might be the abbreviation of Harrison's name. (And if
so, I would love the expression even more. :-))

Questions: do you all say "ho" to express your agreeing with what has been
said? Is this "rule" still alive? Or what do you use? And where does this
term actually come from?

Love and gratitude to all of you - Catherine
