FacilitatorThanks Harrison for this beautiful picture.

A real pearl! ...it can reassure about the incredible value of trusting and
it is full of possibilities and hope.

I'll keep it in my pocket for those conversations with people, clients
afraid to let go and I'll remind myself of it too when I'm working on
letting go.

Jack - I am always very aware and humbled when I start to walk the circle
that at least for that moment, and the next few minutes, I hold the life of
that group in my hands. In some cases, quite literally! It is for that
reason that high levels of clarity, focus, and presence are the least I can
bring to the circle. And because that life is not my possession it must be
released quickly (I must get out of the way). Sometimes it feels like
holding a bird in my cupped hands. It really feels neat, and I would like to
keep it. But if I do that, the birds will die. So I open my hands and the
bird will fly - when ready.

What happens when someone opens space and walks the circle, announcing
inviting questions and giving process directions? Do we have power when we
do this, or is power in what we do? What is the power of convener and
facilitator? More importantly, what's our response-ability to the community
we convene and facilitate? How do we effectively use our position to help
the community re-member its power?
