Timing for really large groups

Dear Lisa,
next time with a group of 100 or less, try an experiment:
Leave the circle, dont sit in it.
I have always done it this way, with groups of up to 450
(the next size was 2108 and there I held the mike standing in the
middle ho breathing down my neck with utter control to see that I
break the world record of 6,7 seconds per issue announcement...I
think there were 232 issues and it took 24 Minutes).
My reading on this is that I am the facilitator, not part of the
event the participants are in,
leaving the circle really makes that point,
and it always works, lines forming
and when a mike is needed its either on a cushion on the ground (to
avoid those horrible sounds when people toss it down)
or on a tripod.
Mostly, when there is a line, people will hand the mike to the next
person.

In the case at hand, as was with the 2108, having one of the
facilitators hold the mike and sort of step up to the next person in
line really cuts down on time.
Have fun with the big one!
mmp
