New York City OS evening (Stammtisch)

Hello again, All.
I've only had a few responses to my last-minute inquiry about whether it
was a good idea to try to have an NYC gathering on Jan 2. Some were
available and others weren't and were skeptical that people would be around
on the holiday.
I sort of inherited the role of organizer for NYC, but since I just got
back from a trip I couldn't send an announcement in good time, so I'm
tempted to say the second Monday is better for this month (Jan 9).
As for location, I just had an idea that Cedar Tavern on University Place
might work. I haven't been recently, but it did have a nice laid back
atmosphere upstairs last I was there. Any thoughts would be welcome.

So, the story is: no gathering on Jan 2; yes on Jan 9 - location to be
confirmed, watch this space.

I hope this doesn't inconvenience anyone. We'll get this thing on track
soon - growing pains!

-Laurence

free space (waiters are paid differently and therefore more open over here
for people who self-organize than in most parts of the US as I have
learned) and we even had a "kind-of-open space" with a very short
introduction and ten people swarming out, meeting within two time slots and
for about seven topics all together). In January we will have the good luck
to get acess to the workplace of one participant, people bringing food
themselves; we felt that music and smoke in he cafe (yeah! People are
allowed to smoke almost everywhere, that's the downside in German cafes, at
least for me..., ah, always something missing ;-) ) were a little
disturbing to our exciting and meaningful conversations.
