Hello,

We have had nearly 50 people respond with interest in our invitation to
join the books conversation sponsored by Positive Change Corp!

The PCC-sponsored Books Conversations will begin the third week in
January. The specific time and date will depend on which of the four
conversations in which you have chosen to participate. The first 3
books selected for discussion are Thomas Friedman's The World is Flat:
A Brief History of the 21st Century (January) , Jackie Stavros and
Cherri Torres' Dynamic Relationships (March), and Peter Senge (et al)
Presence (May).

There will be 4 conversations for each book, and you will be
participating in one of 4 groups, depending on your time zone, and
which group in which you choose to participate. Please check
<www.timeanddate.com/worldclock> to confirm which time/zone group is
yours. Remember to 1) choose a 6 hour frame that includes the hours
in which you would be most likely to be part of a conversations call;
2) Coordinate that with a 24 hour time picture with 12:00 midnight East
(U.S.) Standard Time; 3) please let me know which of the 4 groups you
would then be part of. An example: I live on the West Coast of the U.S.
(California). My preferred conversation time is evening, between 6:00
and 9:00 p.m. That would correspond to 9:00 p.m.- 12:00 midnight EST.
If you are having difficulties sorting this out, please send me your
preferred time (in one of four 6-hours blocks in your time zone), and I
will put you in the appropriate group. Please be sure to include where
you are geographically located!

The reason for the bit of a thrash about figuring out best zones is
that we are creating the most globally inclusive conversation possible.
Anyone anywhere on Earth will be able to participate in real time, in
real conversations, without having to sacrifice sleep/work time (if at
all possible). There will be 4 "separate but equal" conversations for
each book. I will also be contacting the authors we have selected to
invite them to join us. Depending on where s/he/they are, that could
involve any-> of the conversational groups.

The whole project has been in transition because Yahoo has not (yet)
responded to the problem of why people cannot access the
books_conversations Yahoo group. I have sent several messages regarding
both that problem, and the concern that Yahoo has registered us as a
moderated rather than an UNmoderated group. We are holding the space
for everyone to read/post what they choose. The procedure that should
be (!) working is BOOKS_CONVERSATIONS-SUBSCRIBE at YAHOOGROUPS.COM. I
found the group under BOOKSCONVERSATIONS ( without the "_ ") in a Yahoo
group directory search. I will continue to work this wrinkle out. In
the meantime, "drivers, start your engines" and dive in to Tom
Friedman.

If anyone knows the secret for cracking the code of getting Yahoo's
attention, please contact me asap!

Appreciatively,
Kate

P.S. Masud: I have attempted to send you several messages (yours did
post to books_conversations at yahoogroups.com) and my emails to you keep
bouncing back as undeliverable . Is <masheikh at cogeco.ca> no longer
valid?
