Harrison--

Thanks for sharing a wonderful story, and a lovely tribute to Matthew's
ability to live his life large.

Two hundred wheelchairs to Afghanistan might not sound like a lot, but I have
experienced that there are huge stretches of the world where there is no
access to anything that would help someone with a disability be out in the world.

I broke a leg on an island in Lake Baikal (central Siberia)--a place that has
no wheelchairs, crutches, doctors, indoor plumbing or telephones. On the
other hand, people's caring and sense of community are outstanding--I never
carried a bag, nor hobbled anywhere without someone at my side to support me. I
think we are rich in technology, but sometimes poorer in human connections.

Hooray for Matthew! I hope he gets his wish to return to Afghanistan.

Joelle
