(attempt #2, the first one didn't go through)

dear all participating in this discussion,

i have set up a page at www.openspaceworld.net that is titled the
OSlistserv Givens,
http://www.openspaceworld.org/network/wiki.cgi?OSlistGivens .as that site
is a wiki, it seems like a conducive environment for a group of this size
to collectively create a list of givens for the oslist. i think that the
fact that ANYONE can add to, change, or erase information is powerful for
addressing this seemingly important issue.

to begin with, anyone with access to the web can click on the above site
and begin entering in the givens that they feel to be true. from my
perspective, if i wrote something that i felt was a given and the next
moment it was gone, i would know that the statement was not a given for
another person (though i would hope some words of insight would be sitting
in its place to help me learn from and grow with the change). i also
foresee it to be powerful that people can tweek one another's words a
little bit as they see fit.

for example, in another community we were establishing a weekly time to
meditate together. one person asked for a collective intention:
"a connection with the general intention to open ourselves up for more
wisdom and compassion for the integral community and to spread it to
others."
which i expressed as:
"may we open ourselves up to wisdom and compassion, sharing it with others."
and another member stated as:
"sitting with the intention of opening and sharing wisdom and compassion
and with all other beings. "

as this discussion on the list has been going on, the words from the above
intention have been ringing in my head. that's what i feel us doing.
sitting with the intention of opening and sharing wisdom and compassion
with all beings. if having a set of givens will help us engage more fully
in such an intention... well, what are you waiting for! i've posted a topic
that in ost terms i'm not exactly sure what it means (i know givens from
other angles, but as a non-facilitator i'm not skilled in the craft of
givens for organizations and groups), i'm trusting that those more
knowledgeable than myself and filled with passion towards this issue will
guide this party along!!

with love,
ashley
