Michael--
A couple of my poems nibble at the edges of this subject--interesting, both
were written in April. But the poem that wants to come into the conversation
this morning is "La Poesia," by Pablo Neruda, translated by David Whyte. It's
even more beautiful in the original Spanish--if someone has it in Spanish,
please post it! The last word is "abierto," as in "Espacio Abierto."
LA POESIA
. . .And something ignited in my soul,
fever or unremembered wings,
and I went my own way,
deciphering that burning fire
and I wrote the first bare line,
bare, without substance, pure
foolishness,
pure wisdom
of one who knows nothing,
and suddenly I saw
the heavens
unfastened
and open.
Thanks for asking--
Joelle
