i tell sponsors that it certainly will limit the power and results of
the whole thing.  most participants can't possibly imagine the magnitude
of the opportunity and the quality of the resources available to them in
the room until they get there and look around.  when they do get there
and see all of what and whom they have to work with, they can propose
topics and achievements not thought attainable beofre the seeing the
circle.  also, i think they are willing to be more open, and perhaps in
some ways more daring, when they can see and be seen face to face than
they would be on a lifeless survey page or email message.  if i'm going
to break new ground, i want to be able to navigate my speech by the
reactions i get face to face.    good luck!
