rising and falling like waves
far from shore

and in the arms of the ocean
are whole forests of living beings
swaying in the open space between our shores

to float on our backs and listen

will ask a gift question
and in that moment our understanding
will arise

and we will return to the morning
where a child with a fever is crying
and each necessary action of the new day
