[I am resending this mail of last Sunday, now that the OSLIST is working
again. Thanks JL - Artur]

Dear friends:

After a sunny Sunday of work, from myself and Veronique Santos, and thanks
to previous work of Terence Reis (our Wiki "specialist) and Alexandre
Bobeda (in the Spanish section) I am pleased to announce that our Project
his coming to light. Special thanks to Michael Herman for making possible
all this - from the "initiating" of the OST.net Wiki project to the initial
creation of the "Iberian Wiki".

The main page of the Portuguese ("Espaço Aberto") section is now in
"Portuguese only" (except where we have decided to maintain some links in
English) and some of the pages that are linked from there are already in
Portuguese or have a reference in the main page saying "ainda em inglês"
(that, bth, means "still in English" - no capital for languages in
Portuguese...).

The main page in Spanish ("Espacio Abierto") is less advanced, as Alexandre
is only one, and my first priority, this week end, was the Portuguese
side... So I ask again our Spanish-speaking friends to join the effort and
all of you to pass the message to any Spanish-speaking friends you may
have. Anyhow I think that next Sunday night we will have the Spanish
section in the same state where the Portuguese one is now.

I also ask all Portuguese or Spanish speaking people to send to me papers,
references, and links (about Open Space, of course) in Portuguese or
Spanish, from Europe, South America or everywhere. I will put all "non
profit links" in the air, and "think about" the "for-profit" ones (I have
nothing against profits if those sites are CLEARLY indicated as such, and
based on the "free source" intention of the initiator. And if they are
truly Open Space).

So for those of you that want to see what's happening here is the link
(click in "Espaço Aberto" for Portuguese, and "Espacio Abierto" for Spanish):

http://www.openspaceworld.org/iberia/iberia.cgi?IberiaWikiHome

I also want to inform you that I have the intention to create in September
a mailing list only to discuss OST in "Iberian" - the official languages
will be Spanish (Castellan), Portuguese, Galician and Catalan.

Now I would like to have your opinion and especially from those of you from
OSI's on a related matter. Until now all OSIs have been geographically
defined. What do you think of the possible creation of an OSI (an Institute
or Association of practitioners, on a volunteer and not-for-profit base)
that would be "language based" and not geographically based? That is the
first question, and I am thinking about Portuguese. And what if it would be
oriented towards all the Iberian languages (but specially, Portuguese and
Spanish"?

Looking forward to have your opinions about the site and about the questions

Warm regards

Artur

PS: If someone has doubts that Wiki is the way to go and that Wiki is the
first real "OST toll", I think that what 4 people have accomplished in some
days will clarify any honest doubts.
