"History of OSonOS" in different languages? (long)

Dear OS friends,

my team and I are inviting to an OS-OonOS (OpenSpace-Online on Open Space) for german speaking colleagues (October-18-2003). The idea to this event came during the first Berliner OSonOS last month.

While I was writing this invitation I thought, it could be interesting to include some words about the history of OSonOS meetings. I asked Harrison about some sentences, and very fast he send me the following text. Harrison, again ... thank you very much! And Michael M was so very kind and translated it into German.

What do you think about a translation also in other languages and about having this text as well in the worldwide open space site? Or does a similiar text already exist in this website? If not, perhaps it could be fine to have different languages of it ... What do you think? Anybody interested to support this little project? In order to avoid double translations, please send me an email with your name, and in which language you want to translate.

History of OSONOS
OSONOS -- as most things in Open Space, happened because it seemed like a good idea at the time. Little if any planning and not a great deal of forethought, I just found a hotel with reasonable prices, and willing to give us more reasonable prices, close to Dulles Airport (Washington, DC)-- and then sent out a note to anybody I thought might care to come. Seems to me about 25 folks showed up, and of course they were the right people. When it came to featured speakers and all the usual frills for such an undertaking, it never happened. But what else would you expect for a group of people working in Open Space? And no theme either, unless you count Open Space on Open Space. Seems to me that I convened the gathering for 3-4 years, and then it took of with a life of its own. Wonderful! And so it has continued in Toronto, Monterey, Chicago, Berlin, Vancouver, OZ, and now on to Svenmark. Every time it is the same old stuff -- fantastic people sitting in a circle thinking thoughts and holding conversations that nobody could quite imagine -- let alone plan for. For the old timers it always feels like coming home, and strangely enough newcomers seem to feel the same way. And yet we have never been in the same place twice, and truth to tell, the experience is always a first. Never before. Never again -- and yet always the same.

Warmest regards
Gabriela
